On 13 March 2025, Pietro Cirrincione from Romuela Autistic Football Club presented the outcome of the SACREE project at Autism-Europe’s Afternoon of Good Practices on access for autistic people to sports and leisure. This edition of the bimonthly AE informal networking and information exchange sessions for members, partners and the interested public gathered over 80 registered participants from all across Europe and beyond. Participants had a particular interest in learning how to enhance access to sport for autistic people.
Romuela Autistic Football Club’s Captain Pietro Cirrincione intervention touched on the project framework, and highlighted its main activities and results. He presented the survey and interviews, field test, the guides for the sports sector, autistic people and families as well as the pedagogical model used by the project. He emphasised the e-learning programme and the upcoming scientific article, which will be highlighted at the Autism-Europe International Congress in Dublin in September 2025. Pietro wrapped up by pointing to the SACREE final event in the European Parliament on 13 May 2025 in Brussels.
The participants’ feedback was very positive on the results of the SACREE project, highlighting their relevance to promote access to sport for autistic people.
The Afternoons of Good Practices are informal networking and information exchange sessions organised bi-monthly online for Autism-Europe’s members and partners to promote mutual learning. The next session will be in May covering initiatives to enhance self-advocacy of autistic people.
